About me & how I work
I believe that each person is the expert on themselves and already has the ability to heal within them, but I understand that life can sometimes make it hard to see the path clearly, and that’s where counselling can come in.
At the heart of counselling is the relationship between us - I build warm, trusting relationships with my clients to ensure a safe environment where you feel heard and understood. Together we will explore what’s going on for you and find out what, if anything, needs to change.
I first had counselling as a confused student, grappling with what my life was and would be. What I learnt from having a safe, reliable and honest space impacted my life and it’s with this first-hand experience that I approach my work.
We would spend time exploring what’s going on for you now, and sometimes looking back to past experiences as a way to understand a bit more about the present. I may sometimes ask hard questions, but I would never make you talk about something you don’t want to or don’t feel ready to. I will walk alongside you on your journey. We will work together.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, sexuality, life transitions, low self-esteem, stress, loss, intercultural dynamics and relationship issues amongst other things. My background is in music - I worked in the music industry for 10 years before retraining as a counsellor, I therefore have specialist experience working with musicians, music students and music professionals.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and hold full professional liability insurance.
